Quote of the Week #2

This week, I promised myself that I would tidy my room and sort out all my things. Although it is by no means tidy, there is definitely a small improvement from how it was a few days ago! This is an example of something that takes time, and tends to show little process. I found this week's quote on Pinterest a while ago, and I think it fits with my thoughts perfectly!

Some things take time, but there will always be progress and no matter what you will get there. You may make the decision to reach a goal, and it might feel like you are getting nowhere, but every little thing, no matter how long they take, will eventually lead you to achieving your goal.

Granted, there may be sometimes when you will have setback, but there are always ways to get around that, and I think this encompasses that - eventually you will get there!

NYC Spring 2013 Nail Polish Review - 'Raindrop' and 'Blue Sky'

I absolutely love painting my nails in the summer, especially my toes, and I love all the pastel colours that have been coming out recently! So I was excited to see the NYC had released three new colours in their 'In A New York Colour Mintue Quick Dry Nail Polish' line for Spring 2013  - 'Spring Tulip' (a corally red), 'Raindrop' (a pastel blue) and 'Blue Sky' (a light bluey-green). I recently got my hands on Raindrop and Blue Sky, as part of the 3 for 2 offer on nail polishes in Superdrug at the moment. I also picked up the clear topcoat in the colour 'Grand Central Station.'

Both of the colours I picked up are lovely, and I found that with two coats, you could achieve an opaque finish. These polishes dried quicker than most I have tried and although not as quickly as the 60 seconds they claim to, I definitely did not have to wait as long as normal! I finished them off with a coat of the clear polish and they both lasted at least 4 days without chipping, which is pretty good going I think!

However, the best thing for me about these nail polishes has to be the price! All the shades in this range cost £1.79, which is cheap in its own right, but combined with the 3 for 2 offer, I managed to get three good quality nail polishes for under £4 which is incredible in my opinion! I'm not sure how long this offer is going  on for in Superdrug, but I would definitely recommend checking it out, as you can get 3 for 2 across the whole range of nail polishes in store, including brands such as Essie, Revlon and Maybelline.

The only problem I have is that I wish there was a bit more variety in these new colours - although both very pretty, 'Raindrop' and 'Blue Sky' are very similar, and I would have loved to see a pastel green or possibly a lilac, a colour which I am loving wearing on my toes at the moment! However this does not affect my opinion of these polishes; they are great value for money and I can definitely tell I will be using them a lot over the summer!

Quote of the Week #1

I absolutely love beauty blogger and youtuber Louise (or Sprinkle Of Glitter as she is better known) and I think her idea of 'Motivational Monday' is a great way to start the week! I know she has been doing this for a long time but since I have just started this blog...I decided to put my own spin on this and have a 'Quote of the Week' every week, as a way to keep myself going throughout the week!

This completely sums up everything I believe - live each day as your last and make the most of it! It is such a great idea to live by, showing that it is never too late to start living your dream and everyday is perfect to do so! Even though sometimes you might feel that your dream is too unrealistic and you will never achieve it, you're never going to find out unless you start trying, so why not start living your dream today!

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer - Review

If you are reading this post, chances are you will have heard various beauty gurus raving on about this product. I may be a bit behind on getting and reviewing this product but I have finally got round to trying it! I purchased this from Boots a while ago, costing just £4.19 - what a bargain!

On the packaging it says: 'Conceals flaws and blemishes for up to 16 hours. Transfer resistant.' I agree that this lasts all day, however I have yet to wear it for 16 hours, so for that, I will wait and see!

The Beauties of this product:

I have found that a little goes a long way with this product, with only a small amount needed to cover my undereye circles and blemishes. I like to dab two or three dots under my eyes and blend the concealer in using my index finger, which I find gives me the best results. This also seems to last a long time, especially when paired with a powder, and I find I only need to re-apply this once! There are currently four shades (Fair, Light, Medium and Deep) and mine is in the shade Light, which is currently too light for me (as I have tanned a bit!) but in the winter months it is perfect! Instead I find myself reaching for the 17 Hide Away Concealer (in a darker shade, although I'm not sure which one as the print has rubbed of the packaging), which is very similar. I like that the packaging is small and compact, which makes it great for travelling as well.

The Not So Good Things:
I sometimes find that this can look a bit cakey if not blended in properly, especially under the eyes, as it sinks into the fine lines and can make them look even more pronounced, which isn't good! However I find that with good blending and a bit of powder this can be avoided! I also don't like that the writing on the packaging rubs off SO quickly! I had mine for less than a month when the print had already started to come off, making it look older than it is!

However, overall I absolutely love  this product - the formula is creamy, which is perfect for me as the skin around my spots and blemishes gets quite dry. It's also great for covering dark circles around the under-eye area and it lasts all day - basically does what it says on the tin! Plus, for under £5 who can complain!
